Invisible Walls is a dance film exploring the idea of “home” in a world shaped by displacement, migration, and constant social and political change. Through bodies in motion, abandoned spaces, and urban landscapes of passage, the work questions what it means to belong in a contemporary world where the idea of home can feel unstable and fragmented.

Directed and choreographed by multidisciplinary Mozambican artist Pak Ndjamena, the film brings together dance, performance, and audiovisual storytelling to explore visible and invisible borders. The performers move through memories, departures, and arrivals, carrying traces of loss, resistance, and reinvention.

At the centre of the work is the body itself  presented as a sensitive territory and a space where identity can be reconstructed and new forms of belonging can emerge. Rather than presenting home as a fixed place, Invisible Walls considers it as an experience that is continually shaped and reimagined.

Invisible Walls was developed at the House of Wondar studio, bringing together Tanzanian performers under the direction and choreography of Pak Ndjamena.

Strongly influenced by African dance traditions from West Africa, South Africa, and Mozambique, Ndjamena develops a hybrid choreographic language that connects the body with space and memory. His multidisciplinary practice spans dance, choreography, contemporary dance teaching, acting, dance film, and music.

The film uses movement and visual storytelling to explore the invisible boundaries that shape our understanding of identity, place, and belonging. Between presence and absence, departure and arrival, Invisible Walls offers a poetic reflection on who defines the meaning of home and how that meaning changes over time.

“When we slow down enough to listen, the body reveals its wisdom and the mind begins to quiet.”HARRY WUKO
